| It has been a wetter-than-usual May, with 135mm of rain recorded so far, but not even that could keep our golfers away, with an incredible 3009 rounds already played. There is plenty to look forward to in the weeks ahead, from the ever-popular Honourable Gentlemen, with entries now open, to our Quiz Night on 11 June hosted by the Chenin Blanc Association, promising a wonderful evening of wine, food and friendly competition.
This coming Sunday also sees the monthly ALTO Mix Competition, with a few spots still available, so be sure to grab your partner and book. Meanwhile, the Stellenbosch Suzuki Challenge is shaping up for an exciting final, with several teams still in contention to become our first champions. And as one member event draws to a close, another is just around the corner, so don’t forget to enter the 2026 Stellenbosch Knock Out, with both Singles and Better Ball formats once again on offer.
There is certainly no shortage of reasons to stay involved and enjoy the club this month. |

| There is something special about the synergy between wine and golf, and our ALTO Mix Competition on Sunday, 31 May promises the perfect blend of both. It is a day to make birdies, enjoy the company of good friends, share a glass of wine and create the kind of memories that last long after the final putt has dropped.
The day will be followed by dinner and our quiz, making it a wonderful occasion both on and off the course. So gather your partner, enjoy the spirit of the day, and remember to visit them on the farm too – because every great shot starts with a smile, and every great story starts with a glass of wine. |
| If you are wondering what to do on Thursday, 11 June, why not join us for our very first Quiz and Wine Evening, proudly presented by the Chenin Blanc Association. It promises to be a fantastic evening of great wines from a variety of local farms, delicious platters to keep you going, and just the right amount of competitive spirit with an exciting 8-round quiz. With live scoring throughout the evening, you and your team will know exactly what is needed heading into each round, and with a wide range of topics there will be something for everyone to enjoy. So get your fourball together, click on the link below, and enter now – can you think of a better way to spend the evening? |
| Farewell to a Legend of the Industry |
| I had the pleasure of spending the weekend at the beautiful St Francis Links to celebrate the 70th birthday and retirement of a friend and one of the best in the industry, Jeff Clause. It is always special to visit – I simply love the golf course and the area in general. We were treated to three perfect days on the course, with almost no wind, and as always, the hospitality was outstanding. From all of us, I would like to wish Jeff everything of the very best for both his milestone 70th birthday and this exciting next chapter in his life. It was truly very special to be part of such a memorable occasion. |
Keep it down the middle,
Louis |
