Journey to the Investec SA Open |
Winter warm greetings,
It’s been a stormy start to our journey to the Investec SA Open… It’s all systems go as we start with the construction of enlarging the dam on the 18th, the building of the new tee boxes, revamping of the bunkers and the extension of the practice putting green. Yet to start is the upgrading of the chipping area at the driving range and the building of the temporary driving range on the adjacent farm Libertas. You would also have noticed some lovely trees being planted, and in a couple of days, the tree pruning of large trees across the course will commence. We would once again like to thank everyone for their patience during this period. #37weekstogo |

It’s Father’s Day this Sunday and we still have a couple of tables left – please contact Samantha on admin@stbgolf.com to spoil the special man in your life! |
It’s U.S. Open time at Oakmont! |
Ernie Els won the 1994 U.S. Open at Oakmont Country Club in a three-man playoff. He defeated Loren Roberts and Colin Montgomerie after all three tied at five-under-par 279 after 72 holes. Els parred the second sudden-death hole to secure his first major title.
Now a four-time Major winner and a true legend of the sport, Ernie has won 75 times worldwide including 28 titles on the DP World Tour, 19 on the PGA Tour, 15 Sunshine Tour trophies and 3 on the PGA Tour Champions. |
If you are joining us on Wednesday and Saturday for golf, remember to “swing” by the shop and draw your name as we have another fun competition for the U.S. Open.
The 14th of June marks another very important date in recent history for South African golf… mmmm guess – keep guessing – can’t remember? It was the day golf re-opened in 2020 after it was closed for almost 3 months due to the pandemic. |
Honourable Gentlemen of Stellenbosch |
2025 will be the 10th time the President’s team take on the Captain’s team in what promises to be another wonderful day of Foursome Matches. Victories have been pretty evenly spread over the years, with the President lifting the trophy 5 times and the Captain 4 times… Who will be victorious come Monday? If you are playing, please remember to join us for the team draw happening at 18h30 on Wednesday (11 June) in the clubhouse, with a wee dram of whiskey of course!
Stay warm and keep it down the middle,
Louis |
