| Greetings from a Stellenbosch Golf Club that’s seen more rain than a labrador in a swimming pool this past week! It’s truly winter in the Cape, and with a good 100mm of the wet stuff falling since last Monday, our ‘Journey to the Investec SA Open’ has been less of a leisurely stroll and more of a muddy slog. Construction around the course has been hampered rather badly, proving that even our toughest tractors aren’t fond of performing synchronized mud-ballet.
But fear not, golf fanatics! With only 34 weeks to go until the big event, we remain as positive as a golfer eyeing a hole-in-one on a par three. The clouds are beginning to part, and with better weather on the horizon for the beginning of this week, we’re sure many of you will be back on the greens enjoying a round of golf on Wednesday (fingers crossed). Just remember, fill those divots and repair your pitch marks before you take aim for those birdie putts! |

| What a fantastic day we had on Sunday for our June Mix Competition, proudly presented by Alto Wines! The sun truly shone down on us, and from the buzz I heard around the clubhouse, everyone had a wonderful time both on and off the golf course.
A huge round of applause goes out to our deserving winners in the Alliance competition, Jurie and Diana van Graan, who teamed up with Ashley and Gerhard Bester to achieve an impressive 76 stableford points. Congratulations on a superb round!
Our runners-up for the day, with a strong 72 points, were Kurt Anthony, Ruth Baclay, and Philip and Liesbet Rall – well played everyone!
The fun didn’t stop on the greens! Taking third place overall and triumphing in the always-entertaining Quiz Competition was the brilliant team of Linda and Jaco Niemand, playing with Gary and Annelene Kok, also on 72 points.
A massive, heartfelt thank you must go to Alto Wines for their incredible support on the day. Their fantastic wines truly added to what was a great day of golf and camaraderie. We are so grateful for their sponsorship!

| Alright, alright, so maybe it’s not a hardcore rules question, but it’s definitely one that gets the golfers scratching their heads and chatting up a storm – both on and off the course! We’re talking about those front, middle, and back flag positions on a green, especially when you’re not always approaching from the same angle. Our 6th hole is a perfect example, right?
I know many of you have been wondering about the flag colours, and trust me, I’ve been asked about it more times than I’ve missed a short putt! To clear up all the confusion, I’ll be putting together a video explaining exactly how it all works.
We’ve all been there, haven’t we? You hit what feels like the perfect shot, a real beauty that should be nestled right by the flag, only to get to the green and find it’s… well, let’s just say “oops” is an understatement!
