Improvement Programmes

Breaking Barriers

Coach: Erich Kliem (Head PGA Professional) and Pierre de Villiers (PGA Trainee)

Ability levels: Intermediate or advanced

Duration: 8 or 12 sessions of 40 minutes (Pierre) or 50 minutes (Erich) each.

Programme Content: This programme’s goal is to help the player to start “breaking scoring barriers” that the player would like to work toward eg 100, 95, 90, 80 and so forth. The programme starts with an assessment and follows a dedicated plan.

  • Session 1: Assessment of all elements of your game in order to set up the improvement plan according to strengths and weaknesses. This assessment ideally takes place on the course.
  • Sessions 2 to 7 / 11: Dedicated to improvement via simple corrections in mainly the fundamentals, making sure the player knows what and how to practice. The coach will also make sure the player is practicing correctly even when it is not part of lesson time. The latest technology is made use of.
  • Session 8 / 12: Follow-up in order to assess improvements. Ideally takes place after at least 4 practice sessions have taken place. The “breaking” factor is on-going however, with the contact remaining between player and coach in order to evaluate when the goal has been reached.

Number of participants: Can be taken individually or in pairs, or in a group of up to 5.

Times: Head PGA Professional: Week days at flexible times as well as on alternate weekends. PGA Trainee: Limited times during week days. On-course sessions are subject to course availability.

Cost: Please refer to the price lists or contact us for the fees. The fees will include range balls, equipment, video analysis if needed as well as any time spent on the golf course. The Head PGA Professional can also include launch monitor analysis.


Master the Short Game

Coach: Erich Kliem (Head PGA Teaching Professional)

Ability levels: Intermediate or advanced

Duration: 8 sessions of either 30 or 50 minutes each.

Programme Content: As the name suggests, this programme really aims to get the player improving vastly at the vital short game elements ie bunker play, pitching, chipping and putting. It involves an assessment as well as a correcting and drills element.

  • Session 1: Assessment to ascertain biggest weaknesses and to set up the most effective improvement plan.
  • Sessions 2 to 7: Discussions and corrections of all short game elements (pitching, chipping, bunker play and putting) starting with your weakest element.
  • Session 8: Follow-up on improvements made – preferably after at least 3 practice sessions have taken place.

Number of participants: Can be taken individually or in pairs, or in a group of up to 5.

Times: Week days at flexible times as well as on alternate weekends. On-course sessions are subject to course availability.

Hit it Longer / Straighter

Coach: Erich Kliem (Head PGA Teaching Professional)

Ability levels: Intermediate or advanced

Duration: 4 sessions of a half hour each. Group sessions will be for 50 minutes.

Programme Content: This programme aims at getting the player to hit the ball a longer distance and/or straighter in general, especially off the tee and approaches. An assessment is followed by 2 dedicated sessions as well as a follow-up session.

  • Session 1: Assessment in order to ascertain where distance and/or accuracy is lost. This includes an assessment of your current equipment.
  • Sessions 2 & 3: Dedicated to showing you how to hit the ball further and/or straighter. The sessions may include equipment demonstrations.
  • Session 4: Follow-up to assess improvement. Should ideally take place after at least 2 practice sessions.

Number of participants: Can be taken individually or in pairs, or in a group of up to 5.

Times: Week days at flexible times as well as on alternate weekends. On-course sessions are subject to course availability.

Complete Golfer

Coach: Erich Kliem (PGA Head Professional)

Ability levels: Intermediate or advanced

Duration: 12 sessions of either 30 or 40 minutes each.

Programme Content: As the name suggests, this programme’s goal is to guide the player toward becoming a “complete golfer” by following a dedicated, well worked out plan covering all aspects, starting with the player’s weakest elements. The programme starts with a thorough assessment and follows a dedicated plan. This programme is also ideal for the off-season or as a year-long programme where you have constant guidance with you.

  • Session 1: Thorough assessment of all elements of your game in order to set up the improvement plan according to strengths and weaknesses. This assessment ideally takes place on the course.
  • Sessions 2 to 10: Dedicated to improvement via simple corrections in mainly the fundamentals, making sure the player knows what and how to practice. The coach will also make sure the player is practicing correctly even when it is not part of lesson time. The latest technology is made use of. Where possible, course and range sessions can be alternated.
  • Session 11 & 12: Follow-up in order to assess improvements. The contact between player and coach remains in order to evaluate when various goals and objectives have been reached.

Number of participants: Can be taken individually or in pairs, or in a group of up to 5.

Times: Week days at flexible times as well as on alternate weekends. On-course sessions are subject to course availability.

Managing the Course

Programme Content: This programme is dedicated to showing you how you can improve your score by doing nothing other than making better decisions while playing. An assessment is followed by a dedicated session and a follow-up.

  • Session 1: Assessment on the course in order to set up an effective improvement plan.
  • Sessions 2 & 3: Dedicated on-course sessions showing you how better decision making can lead to much better scoring without technical changes.
  • Session 4: Follow-up session to review improvements. Ideally takes place after at least 2 rounds.

Number of participants: Can be taken individually or in pairs, or in a group of up to 5.

Times: Head PGA Professional: Week days at flexible times as well as on alternate weekends. PGA Trainee: Limited times during week days. On-course sessions are subject to course availability.

Play with the Pro

Coaches: Kliem (Head PGA Professional) & Pierre de Villiers (PGA Trainee)

Ability levels: Intermediate or advanced

Duration: 2 hours (9 holes) or 4 hours (18 holes)

Programme Content: A fun programme during which you get to play with the professional. Even though this is not a pure course management session, you will still learn a lot from seeing which decision the professional makes in which circumstances, and he will also be able to help you with sound course management advice.

Number of participants: Individually or up to 3 persons.

Times: Head PGA Professional: Weekdays at flexible times as well as on alternate weekends. PGA Trainee: Limited times during week days. On-course sessions are subject to course availability.
